FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Camarillo, CA (July 5, 2016) – Team BTO Sport-KTM-WPS celebrated the 4th of July weekend at the historic Redbud Motocross Park for round 6 of the 2016 Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship in Buchanan, MI. Team rider Andrew Short, Justin Brayton and Benny Bloss were on the gas leading to Short and Bloss putting in their best rides of the season thus far.
Andrew Short carried the momentum in to Redbud with a pair of solid motos on the fast track. Short used the explosive power from his FMF Racing exhaust system launching out of the gate in moto 1 to battle just outside of the top ten early on. He used his veteran experience to work his way inside the top ten, taking the checkered flag in 9th place, his best moto of the season thus far. In moto 2 , Short would once again get a good jump off the gate, charging the whole moto for a 12th place finish. His 9-12 score would net him 11th overall on the day.
“This was my best week so far” Short said. “My starts are there and I’m happy with how I rode today. It’s a step in the right direction and looking forward to Southwick.”
His never-give-up attitude allowed Benny Bloss to grab his career best overall finish on the fast Redbud track. In Moto 1, Bloss worked his way from outside the top twenty at the beginning, using the traction of the Pirelli MX Scorpion tires to dig deep into the Michigan soil and propelled himself forward. He sliced his way through the field in an impressive display of riding that earned him 11th at the checkered flag. Another mid pack start in moto 2 once again saw Bloss battling his way to the front. As Engine Ice allowed his KTM Factory Services motor to run at peak performance, his forward momentum carried him all the way to 10th place at the checkered flag, earning him 10th overall for the day.
“It feels good to get my first ever top ten in the 450 class” Bloss said. “I was having fun out there on the track. It was rough coming from behind, but I just put my head down and got it done.”
After a strong qualifying session where he posted the 13th fastest time, Justin Brayton came out in moto 1 on the gas. He would battle just outside the top ten, working his way up to 12th place at the checkered flag. A solid start in moto 2 once again helped Brayton battle inside the top twenty, working his way to 13th by the end of the moto. His 12-13 score landed him 12th overall on the day.
“This weekend was ok” Brayton said. “I had two solid starts, but just couldn’t work my way into the top ten. We will make a few changes and come back strong at Southwick.”
Team BTO Sports now heads to the sand track of Southwick in Southwick, MA for round 7 of the 2016 Pro Motocross Championship series.
